Learn How to Sing in Mixed Voice


In singing, there are some interesting terms floating around the web, describing how people are supposed to learn how to sing and one of those is "mixed voice". If you have heard of singing with a "head voice" or a "chest voice" then you will understand when I tell you that "mixed vocals" is simply a combination of the two. If you have no understanding of these terms, then think of this voice as a strong, yet subtle approach to singing that uses good techniques such as posture and breath control, with proper vocal chord usage. You can learn how to sing in mixed voice by first figuring out what chest and head voice are all about.
Chest voice is what tenors sing from. They are using almost their entire body to get those notes out. They use their lungs, their diaphragm, even their abdominal muscles, arms, and legs, to work out those notes. The head voice is much different. You could use your head voice, singing a song, even while you are seated or lying down. The head voice is all about shallow breathing and shallow, simple sounds.
If you want to use this type of voice, then you need to be able to utilize both of these at once - in essence, finding a happy medium. Mixed voice is what most pop singers use (unlike someone like Britney Spears who is primarily a head voice singer), giving them a large range and power for stage performances.

How to Sing Well and Fast


People today are very impatient, and those that aren't usually have reason to want to accomplish things quickly. We have so much to do today that we often don't have time to wait for anything! That's why so many want to learn how to sing well and fast! You can take years and years of lessons and improve your singing in many different ways, but you can also learn how to improve your singing quickly and easily by considering a few simple tips.
For one thing, remember your approach to singing is going to be as important as anything else. You need to warm up your voice by practicing the do re mi scales often, and do so while using a piano to help you with the tone and pitch. You can also increase your voice's flexibility by doing this slowly and then quickly and then slowly again. This will help you to better control your voice as well, as you really concentrate on enunciating each syllable. These types of practices don't need to take up many hours of the day and of course they aren't difficult, but they do work wonders in enabling you to improve the sound of your voice.
When you want to learn how to sing well and fast, remember to work on your voice all the time. Practice pulling your voice from your stomach rather than allowing yourself a nasally, light tone. Lower your voice and concentrate on the words so that you enunciate everything you say. This is good practice for concentrating on controlling the sounds coming from your throat as you sing. There are some songs that everyone just loves to sing. Whether it's "Hey Jude", by the Beatles, or "Freebird", by Lynyrd Skynyrd, you just can't wait to get to the big, powerful high note. But, in reality, most of us can't hit that high note reliably and with strength. You can learn how to sing high pitch notes such as these, but it takes practice and a lot more knowledge than you probably already have.
If you are thinking about improving your singing technique, then it is worth your time to invest some time and money into your "instrument" - your voice. Good singers don't get that way just because they were born with it, they got good because they learned and they practiced what they learned. They had to learn how to sing high pitch notes, too, and it doesn't come easy.
Hitting a high note is a lot like throwing a fastball. No pitcher, in their right mind, would go up on the mound with no warming up, no practice pitches, and try and throw a pitch 100 miles per hour. Tips on How to Sing on Key Consistently


One of the hardest things about singing is consistency. Your vocal chords, just like every other muscle in your body gets tired. It takes a lot of practice be able to be consistent in your singing. Here are some tips on how to sing on key consistently.
An off note can be easily picked out of a song. If you are giving a concert, that means that for an hour or more you have to be consistently on key. Even established singers will hit an occasional off note, and most times it is not because of a lack of talent. Many times when a singer sings off key it is because their voice gives way. This happens because of many things. If you want to sing in tune consistently, it is important that you stretch your vocal chords before performing. Simple exercises, such as do re me fa so la de do, help a lot. Warm up your voice before you sing. This will help avoid your voice cracking, or weakening.
Another tip on how to sing on key consistently is to sing on the breath. If you have taken voice lessons before you have probably been shown how to breathe through your abdomen. Use your breath to carry notes. Singing on the breath helps take the stress off of your vocal chords and puts it on your breath.
How Does Singing With an Instrument Help You?
It is also important that you practice with an in tune instrument. Using a perfect pitch whistle, a tuned guitar, or a piano can help you tell if you are on pitch or not. Work on your scales next to an instrument. This will help you hear the proper pitch, and then help you imitate it.

How to Sing High Notes Easily - What is Necessary?


There is a certain skill needed when it comes to learning how to sing high notes, easily and quickly. Some seem to naturally have a higher pitched voice and can reach those high notes with little effort, but for others, it's good to think of how you can do this correctly and properly so that you don't damage your voice or worse yet, send your audience running with their hands over their ears!
First, singing high notes means warming up your voice no matter what. Use humming as a way to warm up. Start very low and then move up to a higher pitched hum, and then low again. Remember to breathe correctly, with the breath coming from the belly rather than the chest or just the sinuses. Then, when you're ready to practice singing start in the middle range rather than the low range and work your way up to the higher notes. Do not strain your voice as you do this; if your throat hurts, it's time for a rest. Next time warm up more and practice your breathing as you do so that you won't hurt yourself.
Use what is called vowel modification to practice when learning how to sing high notes, easily. Concentrate on one long vowel sound that works best for you and use that to gradually raise your pitch and tone. Keep breathing from your belly as you do and open your mouth wide. If you notice that you're starting to sound nasally, stop what you're doing and take a breather. Practice these things slowly as you don't want to wear out your voice as you do this. If you incorporate these tips you'll see that you can soon master the high notes so that your singing has more range while still having more depth.

How to Use Your Head - Voice to Sing Higher


The key to singing higher is mastering what is known as the head voice. The notes on the higher end of the scale are sometimes called the head voice because those tones resonate in noise and head.
The head voice is the tone of voice used by opera singers who have some of the best voices in the world. It's also one of the tones of voice used by the ever popular Susan Boyle. The head voice is often used in choir and choral songs performed in churches and other houses of worship.
The head voice is distinguished from the chest voice which is the voice that most people sing in. When you use the chest voice, the sound you generate resonates in the chest cavity. Most people use the chest voice when they talk and it is the voice that you naturally use. This is why classically trained singers need years of vocal coaching to develop their voices. They have to learn how to generate sing and speak in a way that is unnatural for most people.
The best professional singers use what is called the mixed voice that is they can easily switch between the head voice and the mixed voice. Developing a mixed voice must be your goal if you want to be a successful professional singer who can hit a wide range of notes.
A mixed voice can be a very bad thing because it can hurt your vocal cords. Some singers actually develop cysts and nodules on their vocal cords. This can be very painful and might require surgery to fix. The vocal cords are harmed because the singer doesn't know the proper techniques for developing a mixed voice and forces it. They literally pull the chest which can produce a head voice but harms the vocal cords with strain.
The way to develop your head voice and sing higher, without putting too much strain on your vocal cords, is to train yourself to go up and down the scales without pulling your chest. This can be done if you relax when you practice try doing this when you are in a very relaxed state. This will feel odd at first but after awhile you'll get used to it and you'll be going into mixed voice and head without strain.
This requires a great deal of practice, but if you can keep up the practice you can master it and give yourself a head voice that comes without strain. You'll have control over your vocal cords and you'll be able to sing higher. Singing higher without pulling your chest will make singing more and more relaxed. Pulling the chest makes singing into a painful chore that you'll want to avoid.
One of the keys to this technique is relaxation, you must be relaxed when you are doing this or you will strain your vocal chords. So never force yourself do it slowly and methodically. This is why it is so important for singers to develop relaxation techniques through yoga and other methods. Teaching yourself a few basic relaxation techniques can get ready for these vocal exercises.

Sing With Authentic Emotion - Just Like a Superstar


There are plenty of singers who just sing from technical aspect- not exactly from a aesthetic point or from a emotional sense of singing- which makes singing... SINGING.
These singers that lack their sense of musical self to engage a audience & drive up their emotions- often have some similar trait... "Analytical, Intellectual & Detail-Focused". This is just the way they carry out their singing. Their notes, coordination and vocal engineering are flawless but their emotions are often left out. The result? Robotic & predictable singing. When a singer leaves out singing they come very predictable because they become just that... a ROBOT.

You see the problem here? I hope you do because the reason some singers sound robotic is because they are not engaging their emotions, creativity and feelings- which is what what will enable you to sing like a superstar with authentic emotion. And this will enable you to finally get that special connection from audience and fans that many famous singers have only been able to achieve.
The solution?
Meditation! Keep an open mind though, because although meditation may seem completely irrelevant to singers... it is not! When you practice meditation your brain begins to activate your right hemisphere which the doorway to creativity, feelings, emotions and intuition.
Many famous pro-athletes meditate before a game and their is no reason why singers shouldn't be mediating before a show. It would be foolish not to do something that has been proved by professional athletes who are taking home millions of dollars.

Sing With Genuine Self Confidence & Cut Out Fake "Self Confidence" For Good!


A singer without self-confidence is a lot like a singer without any stage presence. They have no affect on their audience which results in having no fans and if they do have fans, 99% of the times they have very few fans...
And nothing is more worse than having fake self-confidence... A singer that ignites action through their ego, are doing their careers a lot of harm.
As a singer, you are really an entertainer... And in order for an entertainer to be successful they must not only perform entertainment which they themselves believe to be entertaining but they MUST also perform entertainment which others can relate too and enjoy...
Fake self-confidence comes from an ego: And an ego is always one-sided, which is bad business for the entertainment industry and basically means no business!
Now, it is important to understand that I'm not trying to say an ego is a bad thing, the problem is that when you only have an ego, you leave out what your audience wants as entertainment from your singing, music and performance...
The result? Your singing, music and performance is geared towards entertaining only yourself. If that's the case you will have very little connection with your audience (if any) and you will virtually have close to no fans.
I hope by now you've understood the problem with fake self-confidence and why it is fatal towards all singers.
So how do you develop genuine self-confidence?
Let's first discuss exactly what is "genuine self-confidence"? Genuine self-confidence is being internally driven with a belief that you are capable based upon real talent, skills or knowledge. After genuine self-confidence has been established, usually egotistical confidence follows through.
So what does this definition mean in more easy terms? Basically, genuine confidence is having a belief of high worthiness based upon the knowledge, skills and talents that you REALLY possess not just WISHING you have them.
Simply having a belief that you are highly worthy and capable based upon arrogance & narcissism is egotistical self-confidence. Egotistical self-confidence is good if it is balanced and if you also have actual genuine self-confidence!
Egotistical self-confidence becomes fake self-confidence when their is no genuine self-confidence mixed in together.
So how does all this relate to singers?
Singers must be careful to make sure that they are actually building up genuine self-confidence based upon real singing/musical talent, skills and knowledge.
Which means they must be constantly improving their singing/musical talents, skills and knowledge. Not simply pretending or wishing they had musical assets.
After that point, they are free to let out their egotistical self-confidence... Because if their audience or fans ever question it, they will be able to back it up based on real tangible results they that singer, entertainer, musician and performer can do.
So the point of this lesson is simple:
Start improving your singing abilities, straighten the parts of your voice that is lacking in anyway, build upon your choreography skills, brush up your dance skills, get a makeover to change the perception of your character, or get in good physical shape to change way your entertainment makes your audience feel - whether it's about them or whether it's about you.
But... How do you know exactly what areas to touch upon?
Feedback! And not just simply feedback... You want specified feedback from your fans, audience, your mentors, close-friends & sometimes family.
But you need to be very careful on the motive of your feedback. Seek feedback only from those who have no intention to flatter you and are complete honest with their feedback.
If you receive negative feedback, do not react defensively. Instead the key is to ask why they feel that way? What is the exact reason?
Remember you want Specified feedback, you never want generic feedback- even if it's positive.
In addition, you need to be critical of positive feedback as well and try to pull in as to why they feel that way.
So you've now learned about the basis of acquiring genuine self-confidence. But without having any belief in yourself or your abilities deep inside your heart, soul and mind- you will never acquire any sort of self-confidence, whether genuine or fake.
The best way to acquire self-confidence is to meditate regularly and especially before a show or on stage. Mediation is something that all famous pro-athletes do before a game and after a game.
There is absolutely no reason why this rule exempt from singers. In fact, every single career and activity will be greatly benefited from meditation.
If the best famous professional athletes meditate and the most successful people meditate, to enhance their performance and you refuse to do it, I personally believe that is very foolish and also a very big disservice to yourself.
So why meditation?
Meditation defuses the ego and gets rid of all the negative thoughts in your head automatically. There is no need to force the process of removing negativity, insecurity or low confidence. When you meditate, you mind is cleared of all thoughts which destroy your self-confidence.
Your stress levels decrease, anxiety goes way down and you become a lot more laid back, calm, relaxed and happy.
This results in genuine self-confidence which is calm, tranquil, peaceful and relaxed. Forcing self-confidence is NOT possible and almost always results in yourself looking tacky.
Ultimately your thinking changes as well as the way feel.

Once you build real self-confidence - you will start to influence your audience which will result in yourself having much greater control over how they perceive you, feel about you and ultimately how great of a singer they believe you to be.

How to Sing Better and Find Your True Voice


Most people love to sing but not everyone is born with a great voice. The great news is that anyone can learn how to sing better no matter where you are starting from. The voice is like a musical instrument and although some people have more of a natural aptitude for getting a great note out of it, by learning how to "play" this instrument correctly, you can improve considerably, wherever you're starting from.
One of the most important aspects of singing well involves correct breathing. Now you would think that we would already do this correctly. After all if we couldn't breathe we wouldn't be alive! But in reality many people have bad breathing habits caused by a variety of things including poor posture and our often frantic lifestyles. Learning how to control your breathing is one of the keys to improving your voice.
Singing requires that you are able to take in enough air quickly before you are about to sing a line and then let this air out in a regular and controlled way whilst singing the notes. The mistake many novice singers do is to take a quick shallow gasp of air into the top of the lungs. This results in there being insufficient air, to get you through the line you are singing, and you will end up dropping notes. I'm sure you can relate to this experience and can remember times when you have had to quickly take in more air half way through the line or note you are singing.
When you inhale correctly you should feel your abdomen rising rather than your chest. To test this out lie on the floor (its easier to start learning in this position) and place one hand lightly on your chest and the other on your abdomen. As you breathe in, imagine the air flowing all the way down and filling up your abdomen. Don't rush, just allow the breath to flow into your body and then out in a relaxed way. Notice as you do this the sensations in your body. If you are doing this correctly you should be able to feel your abdomen rising with each in breath and falling as you breathe out. The hand on your chest should remain still. If you notice this moving then you are probably taking shallower breathes which can cause tension in the neck and chest area and will hamper your singing. Once you get the hang of this you can progress to doing the same kneeling, sitting and then standing. After all you're not going to lie down when doing a karaoke!
Once you start to get a feel for how your breath moves in and out your body you are ready to start working on the speed of your in breath. When singing you need to be able to get a full breath of air but in a limited time so that you are ready to sing the next set of notes. Still focusing on the breath going down in to your abs, allow the air to fall quickly into your lungs.
The out breath or exhalation is also crucial to the quality of your voice. Both when we talk and sing, the sound is created on the out breath. To hold a note and to have a smooth sound its important to be able to control this, so that the air comes out in a sustained and regulated way.
Breathing the correct way for singing does require practice, but it is one of the major factors that will impact how well you're able to improve your singing voice. Combine good breathing with correct posture and you are well on your way to learning how to sing better.
And remember singing is fun. Be kind to yourself whilst you are working on improving your voice. Don't expect to be able to sing as well as your favorite artist with just a few weeks of practice. What you want to look out for is how your voice is changing and improving. So rather than compare yourself to others, use yourself as your benchmark. One great way to do this is record yourself singing regularly so you will be able to track your progress. Before you know it all your friends will be wondering at your new improved voice and asking you for tips on how to sing better!
